Antique studio photograph of a Dayak woman from Borneo, probably Kalimantan, posing in front of a painted studio screen. An interesting detail is that she is wearing an ornament on her head which is from the Minangkabau, Sumatra.
Similar photographs that were taken in front of the same painted studio screen appear as postcards in a book entitled "FACES OF INDONESIA - 500 Postcards 1900-1945" by Scott Merrillees, published in the year 2020. The caption on this postcard is "Eene Dajaksche vrouw". But whether these women are truly Dayak or whether the studio photographs have been set up to make them look Dayak is hard to say.
