Very decorative early map of Sumatra, which Munster identifies with the island Eratosthenes and Ptolemy called Taprobana. In tune with the general confusion reigning among early cartographers over the position of Taprobana, Munster himself had previously identified it with Ceylon. This map has a beautiful scene of a man riding an elephant, and it has Singapore ("Cingalolo") erroneously on the Malaysian mainland, but at the right latitude.
