Eene Jagt Op Java.

A Hunt on Java by Raden Saleh.  A fine chromolithograph after the original painting by the famous pioneering Indonesian Romantic painter. Published in the Netherlands in 1867.

Originally published in a folio with 24 large chromolithographed plates entitled “De Indische Archipel”, (The Indian Archipelago), which are among the largest and most detailed ever published on Indonesia. From both a topographical and artistic point of view the plates are of great interest as they present they most comprehensive series of views in the archipelago, ranging through Java, Borneo, Sumatra and Minahasa. Created after drawings by virtually all the prominent mid-nineteenth century artists of Indonesia. Among them the great Raden Saleh, Ernest Hardouin and Abraham Salm.

“De Indische Archipel” was published in 12 instalments, started in 1865 by C.W. Mieling and completed in 1876 by J.M. van 't Haaff, both in The Hague.
