Excellent old-time copperplate engraving of the East Indies by lauded German mapmaker Johan Walch.
Based in Augsburg in the late 18th and early 19th century, Walch created many maps based on descriptions of sailors resulting in the most up-to-date maps of the Indies. The layout and shapes of the islands are familiar to modern eyes.
Pressmarks are clearly visible on the paper and the lands are coloured in beautiful watercolour.
