Beautiful black and white twin hemisphere bible map of the world, published in Amsterdam in the year 1662 by Cornelis Danckerts.

Allegorical vignettes to the corners depicting the rape of Persephone, Zeus in the heavens, Poseidon commanding the oceans and Demeter receiving a cornucopia bearing the fruits of the earth. Celestial planispheres to the cusps of the globe. California is shown as an island, the map shows a few early Dutch discoveries on part of the coast of Australia.  

Left and right margins expertly restored, but otherwise a fine copy. This map hardly appears on the market and is a real fine collectors map for those looking for a rare antique world map.
