Set of 36 antique black and white lithographs depicting mountains on Java. Published in Amsterdam around the year 1850.
Dedicated to Prince Frederick of the Netherlands, these prints are by the famous naturalist Franz Junghuhn, also known as the Humboldt of Java; this was a talented and quirky naturalist who became (and remained) famous with his scientific publications on Javanese nature and especially his unparalleled nature descriptions.
Very suitable for framing.
