A detailed engraving showing the Palace of the Governor-General in Buitenzorg. The great palace surrounded by nature was primarily a residence and a place to entertain guests during the colonial era. Now known as the Istana Bogor, it is the residence of the President of Indonesia much like the Istana Merdeka and Istana Negara in Jakarta.
