A hand colored copper plate showing Fort Nasau, which was the first Dutch fort built on Banda to control the Nutmeg trade in the region. The Second image shows a volcano, in Indonesian Gunung Api, which is spelled incorrectly here. This was originally shown in “The Gentleman’s magazine” in 1806, London; a famous publication collecting materials from various contributors.
A very rare item. In very good condition though there are remnants of the book spine on the right side.
